Web Mapping - Lab 8
Web Mapping - Northern Illinois University - Lab8-1
This is a web map created for lab-8-1 for EAE 452. In this map we used the Google Maps API and some Javascript coding to create our own map. For mine, I disabled the map controls and created a red border around the outside of the map. The Holmes Student Center is marked as a map marker and has a pop up when you click it. For the image, I had to get the most recent image of the Holmes Student Center off of NIU's website because the one provided in the lab had a broken link. Click around and explore the map! Google Maps Layers - Lab-8-2
This is a Google maps web map that we used ArcGIS to create the layer in. The map shows the unemployment rates for Illinois Counties in 2020. I used a ColorBrewer2.org scheme to symbolize this map and ensure that it is color blind friendly. Getting the labels and pop-ups was tricky and but once it was set up in ArcGIS all we had to do was export the KML, add it as a layer to our Google map, and then copy the embeded code to put on my blog. The legend was added by taking a screen shot in ArcGIS and uploading it via Blogger.com. Scroll around the map and take a look! Ryan Facks - zID 2027325
